Mom’s Fight For Burial Near Son Leads To New Law
MANSFIELD, Mass. — Her son was killed on the front lines in Iraq and she fought for the right to be buried with him in a military cemetery.
Just thinking about what Denise Anderson has accomplished makes her weep. The Corey Shea Act, named after her hero son sits on the president’s desk waiting to be signed. It’s something she hopes will already have been done when she meets with Obama later this month.
Shea was killed in November 2008 and was buried at the Bourne National Veterans’ Cemetery. Ever since, his mother has fought for the right to be buried with her son.
